Among these poets are the following: Tatankhulu Ismael Africa, John Agard, Moniza Alvi, Sujata Bhatt, Edward Kamau Brathwaite, Imtiaz Dharker, Nissim Ezekial, Tom Leonard, Grace Nichols,Niyi Osundare, Derek Walcott, Rita Ann Higgins and Matthew Sweeney. The research supplies autobiographical background of each poet, his/her literary production, and then focuses on one particular poem, which is considered the best among the poet’s literary canon, and also is representative of his/her poetry. The research conducts an analytic study of the chosen poems, and looks at their themes in an attempt to relate them to each other, focusing on literary movements they represent and common ideas that bring these poets together. The research aims at presenting a comprehensive study of contemporary English poetry, arousing the Arabic reader’s interest to look at the poetry of other cultures to find common humanitarian and universal grounds and themes it shares with Arabic poetry.Read More
