Nonverbal communication consists of sending nonverbal signals through facial expressions, gestures, posture, dressing style etc. With nonverbal communication people in interaction show true emotions and thoughts that they experience in certain situations. Nonverbal signals such as facial expressions or gestures should not be studied separately, but one should look at the context of the situation in which certain signals appear. Gestures as part of nonverbal communication serve to people so that they can transmit an idea, intention or a feeling. Sometimes gestures replace verbal messages, regulate converation, maintain listener's attention, emphasize certain messages etc. As one must not ignore the context of the situatuion in which certain gestures appear, the meaning of the same gestures, but in different cultures, must not be ignored.
