Title: Epidemiologic and Population Genetic Studies
Abstract: We first outline study design issues in genetic association studies and then discuss the three types of studies: Case Control, Cohort, and Family Based. We then compare the genome-wide association study (GWAS) approach with the candidate gene approach. We next review how to interpret the results of a genetic association study and how one assesses genotype quality and deals with multiple comparisons. Finally, we consider the study Power and Control of Population Stratification or confounding by different allele frequencies due to ethnicity.
