Title: Detection of large point sources of carbon dioxide by a satellite hyperspectral camera
Abstract:Carbon dioxide(CO <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> ) and methane are major greenhouse gases which may cause global climate change....Carbon dioxide(CO <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> ) and methane are major greenhouse gases which may cause global climate change. It is important to quantify CO <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> emissions from large point sources (LPS) such as power plants using fossil fuels. In this study, the capability of HISUI, a Japanese future satellite hyperspectral camera, to detect CO <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> emission from LPS by means of numerical simulation. It is shown that CO <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> emission from medium-sized power plants can be detected by HISUI.Read More
