Title: Données épidémiologiques et déductions prophylactiques sur les Leishmanioses autochtones en France
Abstract: Schéma évolutif probable résumant l'ensemble des données étudiées .. 421 Nous tenterons dans cette étude de résumer ce qui peut être considéré comme acquis grâce aux nombreux travaux que nous avons pu réunir.Pour les questions qui restent à résoudre, nous proposons quelques hypothèses.Celles-ci, en fonction de ces mêmes travaux, nous ont paru vraisemblables et pourront servir de base à l'étude de ces problèmes. I. -HistoriqueLa question des leishmanioses en France peut être divisée en trois grands chapitres.Deux d'entre eux concernent des maladies humaines : d'une part, la leishmaniose viscé rale, encore appelée kala-azar ; d'autre part, la leishmaniose cutanée, encore appelée bouton d'Orient.Le troisième étudie une affection animale, la leishmaniose générale canine.Ces trois entités morbides vont être envisagées successivement, de façon à dégager leur importance relative et leur répartition géographique dans notre pays. A) Les leishmanioses humaines :1. Le kala-azar ou leishmaniose viscérale : C'est en 1918 que le premier cas fut publié en France par M. Labbé, Targhetta et Ameuille sur la Côte-d'Azur (162).En 1922 furent publiés les premiers cas niçois [d'Oelsnitz, Balestre et Daumas (76)] et marseillais [Renault, Monnier-Vinard et Gendron (289)].Il faut noter à ce propos que la leishmaniose canine avait été dépistée à Marseille dès 1914 par Pringault et que, dès lors, on recherchait la leishmaniose humaine, suivant en cela une marche inverse de celle qui avait été utilisée par Ch.Nicolle, à Tunis, lors de la découverte de la mala die dans le bassin méditerranéen.En effet, lors de la découverte de ces cas français, la maladie et son agent étaient déjà connus depuis un certain temps, puisque c'est en 1903 que Leishman et Donovan en avaient parlé pour la première fois en Inde.Dès 1904, Cathoire et Laveran, Pianèse, Ch.Nicolle avaient publié les premiers cas méditerranéens, en divers points du littoral.Rapidement, après ces premiers cas, les auteurs niçois et marseillais purent en publier d'autres, et il apparut bientôt que ces deux villes constituaient d'importants foyers de la maladie.En même temps, d'autres points du Midi de la France furent reconnus atteints, et tout spécialement la Corse, où plusieurs localités s'avérèrent assez fortement atteintes.D'autre part, quelques cas furent diagnostiqués dans des régions plus septentrio nales, régions où les sujets s'étaient rendus après avoir été contaminés dans le Midi.Mais ce n'est qu'en 1931 que le premier cas autochtone non-méditerranéen est signalé par Péhu et Bertoye à Remiremont (Vosges) (252).Pendant ce temps, les observations se multiplient sur le littoral, où P. Giraud à Marseille, M. d'Oelsnitz à Nice en recueillent un grand nombre et étudient la clinique, le laboratoire et la thérapeutique de l'affection.A partir de 1934 apparaissent des cas à
