Title: Experimental Studies on Anchoring in Strong Wind : On mooring a buoy under the strong wind and the high wave
Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to report the results of some investigations of the yawing motion of ship moored to a buoy under the strong wind and the high wave, conducted at the experimental water tank topped with wind tunnel, newly equipped with the wave generator. When the cable length veered is so short as to make small the yawing motion under the strong wind only, the cable tension become very large owing to the high wave, so in order to lessen the cable tension, it is necessary to veer the cable longer. The deeper is the draft, the smaller is the extent of the yawing of ship and cable tension. Even if the wind is not so strong, the cable tension become large owing to the high wave only, under the condition that the cable length veered is short.
