Title: Rozwój żeglarstwa w lewobrzeżnej części Szczecina. Część I. Sekcja Żeglarska KS Świt Skolwin
Abstract: Szczecin jest miastem, które ma najlepszy w kraju potencjał do uprawiania sportów wodnych, a żeglarstwa w szczególności. Żadna inna aglomeracja w kraju nie może się pod tym względem równać z Grodem Gryfa. Jedną z przeszkód efektywnego wykorzystania sprzętu pływającego jest niewłaściwa, zdaniem autorów niniejszej pracy, lokalizacja infrastruktury żeglarskiej. Ogromna większość miejsc postojowych dla jachtów w Szczecinie jest zlokalizowana na południowym brzegu jeziora Dąbie. Łatwo zauważyć, że żeglarz z tamtych przystani, mając do dyspozycji kilka popołudniowych godzin (po pracy), nie jest w stanie dopłynąć dalej niż na północny kraniec jeziora Dąbie i odwiedzić tam jedyny port jachtowy – w Lubczynie. Dla porównania żeglarz z lewobrzeżnego Szczecina (Skolwina) ma w swoim zasięgu, w porównywalnym czasie, zarówno jezioro Dąbie ze wspomnianą Lubczyną, jak i całą Roztokę Odrzańską z portami w Stepnicy (cztery mariny do dyspozycji), Gąsierzynie, Trzebieży, Jasienicy. Przewaga czterech godzin, jaką ma żeglarz ze Skolwina, ma też duże znaczenie w pływaniach weekendowych. Innym aspektem atrakcyjności przystani jest jej odległość od miejsca zamieszkania danego żeglarza. W ostatnich latach rozbudowują się intensywnie dzielnice północne Szczecina oraz jego zachodnie obrzeża i można przypuszczać, że to właśnie tam, w zabudowie jednorodzinnej, mieszkają potencjalni właściciele jachtów. Średni dystans, jaki mają do pokonania ci żeglarze do przystani w Dąbiu, przez ruchliwe centrum miasta, to 14–20 km. Dla porównania, odległość do Skolwina to tylko 6–10 km. Mając na uwadze wypromowanie Skolwina jako lokalizacji przyszłego, bardziej funkcjonalnego centrum żeglarskiego, autorzy niniejszej pracy postanowili zbadać i opisać historię i inne uwarunkowania rozwoju żeglarstwa w północnej części lewobrzeżnego Szczecina w okresie powojennym, a ściślej – w ostatnich 60 latach istnienia sekcji żeglarskiej Klubu Sportowego „Świt”. Nasza inicjatywa nabiera nowego znaczenia w sytuacji, gdy fundusze unijne są wykorzystywane także na finansowanie portów i przystani żeglarskich, czego przykładem jest Zachodniopomorski Szlak Żeglarski.
