Title: Demand aspect of cultural tourism in Croatia
Abstract: Cultural sights and events have always represented a part of tourist travels. The participation of cultural tourism within the tourism market has been growing continually in the last twenty years, and has also been increasingly applied to this specific form of tourism. The main motive of cultural tourism is represented by the satisfaction of cultural needs. Tourists vary in intensity to meet different cultural needs, depending on weather culture represents the primary motive of arrival to a particular tourist destination, or cultural attractions and events represent only additional resource they will visit incidentally during their stay in a destination. Their standard of living, education, and area of interest, all cause various and gradient demand for cultural tourism products. Croatia is not a well-known cultural tourism destination as, for instance, Italy and Greece, but with its cultural offer it can still satisfy not only cultural needs of tourists motivated by culture, but also of those considering cultural attractions and events to be only casual motives. As Croatian destinations mostly develop leisure tourism, cultural tourism and its various forms can contribute to the more substantial and longer stay of tourists within the destination. During his/her stay within the destination, the contemporary tourist is usually drawn by a particular cultural sight, event, tradition, and spends part of the time satisfying cultural needs.
