Title: Fabrication of an electrowetting microlens array on a flexible subtrate
Abstract: We describe the fabrication of a flexible electrowetting microlens array. The microlenses are composed of two immiscible liquids on a flexible substrate. The areal density modulated electrode design utilized for electrowetting allows for the independent, continuous tuning of the individual microlenses and additionally functions to keep each lens centered on its optical axis. Simultaneously, the flexible substrate of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) allows for enhancements in the field of view of the array and allows the array to operate as a reconfigurable optical system. We report our fabrication method and demonstrate the actuation of the lens for a tunable microlens array made exclusively of flexible materials.
