Abstract: This 1992 annual report of the Statistics and Data Processing Unit of the World Health Organizations Special Programme of Research Development and Research Training in Human Reproduction notes that the objectives of the Unit are to provide data processing support to the Research and Development component of the Programme and to help collaborating developing country institutions strengthen their biostatistical and data processing capabilities. During 1992 the Unit supported 57 research projects (tabulated by type/stage of support) and provided a technical review of the biostatistical and data processing aspects of projects submitted for funding. The Report also outlines developing-country institution strengthening activities for 1992 which involved on-the-spot training attaching trainees to the Unit conducting training courses and developing short- and long-term courses in collaboration with training institutions. Progress towards achieving self-reliance in statistics and data processing was also achieved in 19 developing country centers.
