Title: International legal analysis of the right to freedom of expression
Abstract: Right to freedom of expression is one of the most well-known civil and political right. One of the first resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly describes it as a 'touchstone' for all other human rights and freedoms. This right is protected by several international conventions. On the universal level it is guaranteed in the article 19. of the International Covenant for the Civil and Political Rights. On the regional level it is embodied in the article 10. of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, article 13. of the American Convention of Human Rights and article 9. of the African Charter on Human and People's Rights. European standard of the protection of this right is the most precise and developed one. It serves as a signpost outside of Europe as well.
