Title: Modernity and Identity Construction: Religious Fundamentalism
Abstract: The thesis studies the transformation of social context and institutions during the last two to three decades and identity construction in this newly reorganized social reality. Global flow’s influence on ‘locale’ will be shown via the example of fundamentalism. A juxtaposition of modernity’s features to those of Christian fundamentalism’s will show the threatening character of globalization towards Christian fundamentalism by examples of secularization and a crisis in patriarchalism. Thus, the work tries to depict how the character of the modern world is reflexively organized via interplay between the global and the local.
