Title: Application Examples of FEM to Concrete Structures
Abstract: The paper illustrates the practical application of the FEM by means of examples for plain/reinforced/prestressed concrete structures. These examples, including both global and local analyses of structures, conform with the principles recommended in the Guideline newly proposed by the JCI Committee on RCFEM and Design Method. (Endo et al 1989) The linear analysis of generally available finite element programs is used in design examples. Besides introducing the common practices of the FEM the paper places an emphasis on the modelling methodology, the incorporation of the nonlinearity of reinforced concrete into a linear analysis and the application of analytical results to design and detailing.
