Title: Asphalt Age Hardening—Trends and Predictions
Abstract: Pavement cracking is substantially related to the consistency of asphalt cement binders. The variation in hardness of binders is related primarily to asphalt characteristics, environment or exposure conditions, mix permeability and age. The analysis of different test roads from California, Florida, etc. indicates that the slope and intercept of log viscosity-log age trends are related. There is a tendency for a common cross-over point (viscosity-age values) which may be significant in the establishment of age hardening prediction methods.
