{'近年筆者らは,親水性ポリエチレングリコール鎖と疎水性基を側鎖にもつ両親媒性ランダムコポリマーが水や有機溶媒中で精密な自己組織化を実現する機能性高分子として有効であることを見いだした.このランダムコポリマーは,一次構造と側鎖機能基を設計・制御すると,一分子鎖で折りたたまれたユニマーミセルや多分子鎖で集合したナノ会合体を自在に構築できる.とくに,(1)比較的高濃度でもユニマーミセルを形成し,(2)組成と鎖長の選択により多分子会合体のサイズと会合数を精密に制御でき,さらに(3)組成選択的な自己組織化(セルフソーティング)によりサイズの異なる会合体を水中に共存できるなど,一般的な両親媒性ブロックコポリマーとは明確に異なる自己組織化挙動を示した.さらに,得られた機能性ナノ会合体は,水中で温度応答性を示し,水中での触媒反応場やフッ素溶媒中でのタンパク質の保存にも応用できることが明らかとなった.':
