Title: Hazardous air pollutants : what they mean to a sawmill
Abstract: The Clean Air Act (CAA) is divided into sections or titles. We have all heard of Title V which required permits for major sources in approximately 1995. Most mills also have experience with Title 1 which covers regional air quality. Before modifying a process, changing equipment, or adding equipment most mills must assess the effect on the regional air quality as measure by seven criteria pollutants (0 3, VOC, lead, sulfur dioxide, CO, NO 2, particulate). Title Ill covers hazardous air pollutants which are on a federal list of 180+ compounds.
