Title: Social selection in education and economic development
Abstract: This is a quantitative, cross-sectional analysis of the level of equity among students in secondary and higher education in countries at all levels of development. Equity is assessed in terms of access to schooling by parental education, occupation and family income. The survey finds that there is no deterministic relationship between the occupational structure or economic level of developing countries and social selectivity for schools.
