The continuous casting is consist of ladle, tundish and mold. The tundish is an intermediate vessel between the ladle, which supply molten steel, and the mold, which solidify the molten steel. It stabilizes supply of molten steel to mold and remove the inclusions in molten steel by floatation. In the continuous casting process, there is a non-steady state during the ladle change when the flow rate of molten steel from ladle and free surface level in the tundish vary with time. It is known that the molten steel and inclusion particles behavior in the tundish become complex in the non-steady state. However, it's difficult to observe the inclusion particles behavior. In this study, transient numerical simulation of molten steel flow and inclusion particles motion in tundish has been carried out and it has shown that the amount of outflow inclusions to mold vary with the inclusion diameter.Read More
