Abstract: A discussion of the status of public/private participation in development and transportation projects in Jacksonville, Florida. The special efforts to encourage downtown redevelopment, which often involve transportation issues, are described with examples of specific projects. The history of one particular redevelopment project involving the replacement of public buildings is given. In addition, the manner in which developers of large tracts of land have contributed and continue to contribute to the cost of major highway improvements through the Florida Development of Regional Impact legislation is described.
