Title: Female entrepreneurship in Serbia: Evolution from the social toward the economic category
Abstract: The research is based on the definition of female entrepreneurship - as a prerequisite for conducting an adequate analysis of this phenomenon, from the aspect of evolution, moving from the social to the economic category. Various definitions are presented including the definition accepted as relevant in the first comprehensive institutional research on female entrepreneurship in Serbia. The initial point in the analysis of factors of female entrepreneurship is the report of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), which defines and explains these factors - grouped as economic and socio-economic. Further on, female entrepreneurship in Serbia is presented, and it is based on the previously mentioned research which provides the insight into the scope and features of this phenomenon, into the profiles of female entrepreneurs in Serbia and their involvement in the available financial programs for the development support of SME's.
