Abstract: Is National-Socialism synonymous with nihilism? The catastrophe of 1945 and the willingness of the regime leaders to sacrifice Germany and the German people led many historians to think so. The use of the reference to Antiquity in the setting of the catastrophe invites us to reconsider this question of nihilism: if there was undoubtedly some desire of death and self-annihilation, it was aimed at fascinating and mobilizing the generations to come for new wars in the struggle of races.
