Heating the 6-chloro compounds in alcoholic potassium hydroxide solution yielded 5-alcoxy compounds. 2-Benzylamino-4-methyl-6-hydroxypyrimidine was obtained by the condensation of benzylguanidine and ethyl acetoacetate. By the same procedure, 2-p-hydroxybenzylamino-4-methyl-6-hydroxypyrimidine was obtained from p-hydroxybenzylguanidine.Read More
