Title: Infestation of <i>Varroa destructor</i> on <i>Apis mellifera</i> in Kashmir Himalaya
Abstract: A study was conducted on the infestation of varroa mite Varroa destructor on Apis mellifera L. honey bee colonies in Kashmir Himalaya. It was through a survey covering 200 colonies from 10 locations at different altitudes during 2013. Relative adult bee infestation was observed to be between 9.12 to 11.33%, while in sealed worker brood cells it was 20.15 to 29.12%. Differences in infestation levels was found significant between locations, and ranged between 9.12 to 11.33% at Tangmarg and Medura Tral locations, due to altitude differences. In sealed worker brood cells infestation levels ranged between 20.15 to 29.12% at Deed Kote Kupwara and Penglina Pulwama.
