Title: A simple method of calculating electromagnetic fields in solid conductors
Abstract: The distribution of the electromagnetic field quantities inside a good conductor is determined by assuming approximate boundary conditions at the conductor surface. These conditions are those corresponding to the exterior-field solution, obtained on the basis of an appropriate surface impedance model for the conducting body. The field inside a linear, isotropic and homogeneous conductor can be expressed directly in terms of the Green function for an unbounded space, corresponding to the conductor material characteristics. The proposed method is applied to a test example and yields accurate results even for high levels of penetration of the field into the conductor.
