Title: The role of polyunsaturated fatty acids in allergic diseases prevention
Abstract: Studies suggested a link between the declining consumption of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFA)and the rise in allergic diseases. Although the effect of supplementing n-3 PUFA on the treatment of atopic diseases in adult has been disappointing, the epidemiological evidence suggested n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids may play a role in against allergy. In recent years, there has been a growing focus on the role of n-3 PUFA in allergy prevention in early life. This review will examine the current evidences about the effects and mechanisms of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in allergy protection.
