Title: The surgical approach choice for sacrum and sacral canal tumors removing
Abstract: The results of examination and surgical treatment of 69 patients, have been operated in clinic because of sacral tumors from 1999 to 2011 years were analyzed. In 18 patients after tumor removing pelvo-lumbar fixation was performed. Tumors of lower sacral vertebrae were removed more easily from posterior and transperineal approaches. Anterior approaches (transabdominal, retroperitoneal) were used at upper sacral vertebrae (SI–SIII) or the whole sacrum (SI–SV) lesion. Sacrum tumors radical removing depends on the surgical approach adequacy, which wood be chosen not only because sacrum lesions heaviness but also tumor spread beyond the sacrum.
