Title: Energy recovery of testing bed for high speed hydraulic pumps
Abstract: Generally in the hydraulic pump testing system, the pump is driven by the electric motor and the load is the throttle valve. However, this layout may lead to two problems for the high speed pump. One concern is the large amount of the power loss at orifices of the valve. The other is that the speed of electric motor can not satisfy the pump. To solve these problems, an energy recovery scheme for the testing system is proposed in this paper. The pump is driven by a pass-axis hydraulic motor, connected with another hydraulic motor which is in the return line. The two motors and pump are coaxial and connected by couplings. In this way, hydraulic energy can be recovered and utilized to drive the hydraulic pump. To verify the feasibility of this method, the simulation model is built in the software AMESim. Simulation results show that the proposed energy saving system is effective.
