This chapter commences with information on the personal consumption level of rural and urban residents' household income in five groups. Then, it talks the improvement in the residents' quality of life, touching upon the declining Engel coefficient, and improvements in purchases, housing conditions and health-care spending. An increase in consumption of goods and services was inevitable, but China's service sector is not developed yet, especially in finance, education, consulting, medical services, household management, and so on. It is predicted that, in 2011, urban and rural resident income will continue its swift growth, consumption patterns will be optimized, and the quality of life will be further improved. Consumption is restricted by income, income originates from total output value, and expanding consumption demand is necessary to maintain rapid macroeconomic growth.
