Title: A comparison of the anesthetic effects of propofol, propofol-thiopental, diazepam-ketamine, and etomidate in greyhounds
Abstract: Prolonged and rough recovery often follows thiobarbiturate anesthesia in Greyhounds. Ketamine-diazepam and propofol are suitable alternatives for induction of anesthesia. A 1: 1 mixture of 1% propofol and 2.5% thiopental or etomidate may also be suitable alternatives to thiopental. We compared the anesthetic effects of intravenous induction doses of 1% propofol (P), a 1: 1 mixture of 1% propofol and 2.5% thiopental (PT), a 1: 1 mixture of 0.5% diazepam, 10% ketamine (DK) and 0.2% etomidate (E).
