Title: A channel utilization scheme for IEEE 802.15.4 working on ISM band under IEEE 802.11 interference
Abstract: The operating ranges of IEEE 802.11 WLAN are generally near to 2.4 GHz ISM band, whereas the 802.15.4 standards operates for low power and low data rate sensor networks. A beaconed and un-beaconed version is available in the sensor network domain. As the packet interference is liable to occur in the network so it causes the traffic in the media and inherently affects the respective 802.15.4 nodes. This paper suggests an approach based on numeric evaluation for calculating the channel utilization of IEEE 802.15.4 network, at the same instant interference caused by IEEE 802.11 network was an area of interest in this study. In this paper, we have further chosen a theory based on the effect of respective 802.11 nodes on the utilized channel capacity of an 802.15.4 network. The optimization of the parameters which affects the channel mostly is also shown. The MATLAB simulations have been performed for our calculated scheme to check its accuracy and understanding.
