Abstract: In India, sorghum is grown both in kharif and rabi seasons. While grain from kharif season, in recent years, has been used primarily for animal feed, that from rabi season sorghum is mostly used for human consumption. The crop residue (stover) after the harvest of kharif and rabi
season sorghums is a valuable source of fodder for both milch and draught animals, especially during dry seasons. Sorghum is also an excellent source of green fodder because of its wide adaptation, rapid growth and drought tolerance.
