Title: 17.3 Intravenous Ketamine for Treatment-Resistant Depression in Adolescents?
Abstract: There has been considerable international enthusiasm about the potential use of low-dose (subanesthetic) ketamine as a rapid-acting antidepressant for patients with depression who have not responded to standard forms of treatment (treatment-resistant depression, TRD). In adult TRD, a single infusion of ketamine has been shown to reduce depression significantly within hours, and serial infusions may improve response rates. However, no information is available yet on ketamine for adolescent TRD. The objective of our study was to investigate the efficacy of intravenous ketamine for TRD in adolescents.
