Title: Environmental and social impacts assessment for Phan Rang - Thap Cham city sub-project
Abstract: The development objective of Coastal Cities Sustainable Environment Project for Vietnam is to renovate rain-water drainage system of the city centre to drain rain-water and control flood. Some of the negative impacts and mitigation measures include: (i) inform the school management of the construction activities and their potential impacts such, waste, dust, and noise, traffic, and construction schedule at least one month before start of the construction; (ii) deploy staff to guide the traffic during construction during transportation, loading and unloading of construction materials and wastes; (iii) provide night lighting system with luminously painted fence and night lamp (7pm to 6am); (iv) ensure a drainage ditch at the site and clean any clogs; (v) spray sufficient water to suppress dust during dry and windy days at least three times a day at site; (vi) cover the incomplete trenches under construction at day’s end; (vii) set up construction and traffic warning signs at the construction site; (viii) pay attention to railway warning signs while crossing the railway; and (ix) periodically registry and supervise the quality of transport vehicles as required by the government regulations.
