Title: SANDÍA (Citrullus lanatus (Thunb.) Matsum. & Nakai) INJERTADA SOBRE DIFERENTES PORTAINJERTOS DE CALABAZA (Cucurbita maxima x Cucurbita moschata)
Abstract: La produccion de hortalizas es una actividad importante del sector agricola en Mexico, siendo la sandia una de las hortalizas principales. El estado de Sonora ocupa el segundo lugar en superficie. El presente estudio se realizo con la finalidad de evaluar la respuesta del cultivo de sandia (Citrullus lanatus (Thunb.) Matsum. & Nakai) cv. Tri-X 313 injertada sobre diferentes portainjertos de calabaza, durante los meses de diciembre de 2005 a mayo de 2006. Se evaluaron cuatro portainjertos comerciales de calabaza (Cucurbita maxima x Cucurbita moschata) hibridos interespecificos RS1330, RS841, RS888 y RS1313 y el respectivo testigo sin injertar. Los resultados obtenidos mostraron que la tecnica del injerto, ademas de reducir la sobrevivencia de las plantulas en semillero, retrasa el crecimiento de la planta. Los portainjertos comercializados para su uso en cucurbitaceas no presentaron diferencias significativas en la produccion comercial y la calidad de sandia, mostrando ser alternativa en suelos en donde la planta presenta problemas al crecer en su propia raiz. Se observo una menor concentracion de nitratos en las plantas injertadas, al parecer debido a una mayor eficiencia en la actividad de la enzima nitrato reductasa que favorece el aprovechamiento de nitratos, pudiendo reducirse la aplicacion de nitrogeno. El portainjerto RS1330 presento mayor concentracion de zinc y cobre.
