Title: Power system oscillations improvement by using static VAR compensator
Abstract: Static var compensator (SVC) is employed for providing better voltage regulation and power system stability. This paper discus for damping undesirable electromechanical oscillation in power system by using shunts flexible ac transmission system (FACTS) controller. A combined system of a classical SVC and a PID (proportional-integral-derivative) controller is proposed. The voltage regulator excitation system is assumed to be equipped with IEEE type ST3 exciter model. Simulation studies on a simple power system indicate that the designed controller provides very good damping properties.
