Title: Decreases in Runoff and Sediment Yield by Drainage
Abstract: Runoff and sediment yield from three small agricultural watersheds were measured during four winter rainfall seasons. Following two rainfall seasons of data collection, a subsurface drainage system was installed on one of the three watersheds. Measurements indicate that runoff and sediment yield from this watershed were decreased by 65% and 55%, respectively, following drainage. It is concluded that the effects of subsurface drainage on watershed behavior need to be included in river basin resource planning.
