Title: Next-Generation Business Process Management (BPM)
Abstract: This chapter provides an overview of the key business process modeling tools that are essential to operational implementation of the agile enterprise. It is important for business leaders to understand the basic concepts and representation of these models to understand the details that must be addressed and the skills and investment required for process design. BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation) models repeatable, predictable processes. CMMN (Case Management Model and Notation) models the elements of work for planning and performing adaptive processes exemplified by legal or healthcare cases. DMN (Decision Model and Notation) supports the representation of complex business decisions that may be incorporated in models of BPMN or CMMN. The chapter then examines the expansion of the conventional BPM (Business Process Management) discipline to include all forms of collaboration under BCM (Business Collaboration Management) thus addressing the network of collaborations by which the enterprise actually works.
