Title: The Impact of Strategic Plan Quality and Implementation on Firm Performance
Abstract: Implementation of strategy is critical to achievement of superior firm performance, although most strategic models inadequately emphasize the relationship between strategy formulation and implementation (Day and Wensley 1983). While a significant body of literature exists in the area of strategy formulation (Porter 1980, 1985; Miles and Snow 1978; Mintzberg 1988), limited research attention has been given to implementation–s role in strategic success and warrants additional research in this area (Noble 1999). This study explores two primary areas, which are: 1) to identify unique strategy types pursued by banks, and 2) to test for a performance advantage between strategic groups based on the level of strategic plan quality and implementation capability.
