Title: Optimum composition calculation for multicomponent cryogenic mixture used in Joule-Thomson refrigerators
Abstract: An optimization calculation method is developed in this work to evaluate the optimum composition of the mixed gas used in the Joule-Thomson (J-T) refrigerator system. In this method, the ideal thermodynamic efficiency for the J-T refrigeration cycle is used as the objective function to be maximized. The influence of the temperature difference in the counterflow heat exchanger and the efficiency of the compressor are also considered. The Complex Optimization Algorithm (COA) is introduced in this paper. The calculation result can be useful in the experimental investigation of mixed-refrigerant J-T refrigerators. To understand the result better, the thermodynamic analysis of the optimal mixture obtained from the simulation is also presented.
