Title: Ontogenetic studies on electrophoretic patterns of prealbumin proteins in the chicken. Comparison of egg yolk and blood plasma of embryos, chicks and adults.
Abstract: The electrophoretic patterns of chicken prealbumin proteins were compared among egg yolk and blood plasma of embryos, chicks and adults with emphasis on the estrogen-dependent proteins. Chicken yolk phosvitin, a major phosphoprotein, was detected in the slowest migrating prealbumin-1 zone stained with rhodamine B.Pa-2, phosphorus-free estrogen-dependent protein, was found in egg yolk and plasma of laying hens, 20-day-embryo, and 1-day-old chicks, but not detected in the plasma of 16-week-old immature cockerels and pullets and mature cocks.
