Title: Markan Idiolect in the Study of the Greek of the New Testament
Abstract: This chapter examines the Gospel of Mark, but since there are features of the Greek of the text that differ from other parts of the New Testament. The author suggests four major areas that are affected by sorts of data. The chapter comments on more extensively on the first since it is most directly related to the question of the nature of the Greek of the New Testament. First, grammar and exegesis need to take idiolectical considerations into account. Second, a consideration of the idiolect of the New Testament writers is relevant to textual criticism. Third, the author does want to point out that some of the data reflected above is relevant to a discussion of the Synoptic Problem.
