Abstract: Abstract This chapter focuses on the period of the 1970s and the beat of resistance aesthetics, which finds three diverse expressions in the cinematic productions of Mumbai-based industries referred to as 'Bollywood', Kolkata-based productions in Tollygunj as 'Tollywood', and Dhaka-based productions in Bangladesh as 'Dollywood'. The chapter asks: What warrants the need to re-visit the beat of the 1970s in the three contexts taken into consideration in the present times? What are the conjunctions and disjunctions within the three contexts that help build an argument for a kind of cross-border flow that follows a trajectory that is integrationist and constructivist in nature if one traces people to people movements? How do the sociopolitical realities of the three contexts influence the welding together of the three rhythms of resistance to create an aesthetics that is quite opposed to what Hollywood foregrounds and why?
