Title: The Project Execution Phase: Diagnosing Project Health; Scope Compromises
Abstract: This chapter sets forth the activities and practices associated with the project execution phase. It describes what is going on behind the scenes, such as the necessary re-clarification of business requirements. The chapter gives ways to tell that something is wrong with the project execution and methods to diagnose the problem and decide what to do about it. The chapter explores “the programmer's prejudice” as well as the need for demos and iterative deliverables, explaining why they're important but hard to do. The inevitable phenomenon of scope creep is discussed as well as types of scope creep and methods for dealing with scope creep.
