Title: Integrative Management of Hair Loss and Hair Care
Abstract: Abstract The most common cause of hair loss is inherited androgenetic alopecia, also known as male or female pattern hair loss (Figures 13.1 & 13.2). Hair breakage or dullness may signal over-processing of the hair, especially in developed countries where there is ready access to chemical relaxers, colorants, and heating devices. The cosmeceutical industry has literally exploded in recent years, as manufacturers have incorporated various plant extracts into products for hair care and hair loss. In this chapter we will focus on active ingredients with scientific data supporting their role in hair protection, hair growth, and hair care.
