Abstract: Governments, United Nations (UN) IFIs, including the World Bank and the IMF, and secular development agencies have worked on the issue of poverty alleviation over the years. Yet the fact remains that at least one in six of the world's people are still living in abject poverty. Over time, it has become clear that whether on their own or collectively these entities do not have all the answers to achieve desired poverty reductions and associated improvements in living standards in the developing world.
