Abstract: Abstract This chapter discusses the different populations of adoptees in the US, including their unique needs and vulnerabilities. It then reviews recent innovations in practice and service delivery, such as the emergence of attachment theory/therapy for improved understanding of adopted children, family centered or family-based adoption practice, increased use of computer technologies and the Internet, and adoption system and child welfare system reforms.
