Abstract: "Nothing is more practical than a good theory." This dictum of Kant applies especially to the ongoing transition from administered economic systems to market economies. This is a difficult undertaking, which seems to be without precedent. The aim is not only a fundamental transformation of the economic and political orders but also acquisition of new values and behavioural patterns. This means a radical re-evaluation of existing norms and structures.
