It attempts to delineate th...This chapter examines the industrial, ideological, and aesthetic significance of a sonyeo (girls') sensibility to the Korean horror cycle of the late 1990s and early 2000s. It attempts to delineate the sonyeo sensibility portrayed in the Whispering Corridors (Yeogo geodam, 1998) series and A Tale of Two Sisters (Janghwa, Hongryeon, 2003). It also argues that “sensibility,” provides a concept alternative to “sexuality,” on which many of the previous approaches to the horror genre have been based.Read More
