Title: Light Sources and Their Colour Co-ordinates in the C.I.E. 1931 System
Abstract: In Chapter V the spectral distribution of radiance was the basis for the calculation of colour co-ordinates, and the Y co-ordinate was the luminance of the patch of coloured light considered. When we are concerned with a primary light source, the colour co-ordinates and also the luminance of a patch on the surface of the source can be found in this way. Very often, however, we are not so much interested in the distribution of luminance and colour over the surface of the source, as in the luminous flux Φ and the colour of the light of the source as a whole. In this case the spectral distribution of radiant power is taken as the basis for the calculation of the colour co-ordinates, and then the Y co-ordinate is the luminous flux of the source. Methods for the determination of the spectral distribution of radiant power will be discussed in § 54.
