Title: Integrated test evaluation decision framework for the Yucca Moutain Project
Abstract: An Integrated Test Evaluation decision framework and computer model were developed to help prioritize site-characterization tests at Yucca Mountain. An initial application of the framework evaluated studies described in the Department of Energy`s Site Characterization Plan. Priorities were based on the ability of tests to detect unsuitable site conditions, to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements, and to build confidence and support within the scientific community. Testing costs were also considered. Results showed priorities to depend most on estimates of the abilities of tests to build scientific confidence and least on estimates of the ability to detect unsuitable site conditions.
